Cape Cod experiences significant challenges to the adequate provision of affordable and attainable housing on Cape Cod that have only become more acute in the wake of the pandemic. The annual median sales price of single-family homes in Barnstable County has increased substantially from $433,000 in 2019 to $789,500 in 2025. The increases in price have slowed somewhat compared to during the height of the pandemic and inventory has been increasing slightly since 2021, but homes remain expensive in the region.
